-X E J A S M O S- (ENG)

"..."

Xejasmos, or the fear of Oblivion and abandonment, is a Higher Fear although he may not look like it. Once Death's loyal confidant, X -what is left of his name nowadays- is now nothing but a shell of what he once was.

After being imprisoned by Valeska, X turned even more quiet than he originally was. Originally kept hostage in order to gain information on Death's weaknesses, his vow to keep silence brought nothing but misery and suffering upon his being. Victim of the cruelest tortures and abuses, X never let out a sound; not even a cry of pain, keeping his loyalty to Death. However, it wasn't long until this situation of constant abuse took a great toll on him, making him overall unresponsive to any stimulus. Nowadays he seems absent most of the time- there is no light in his gaze and he seems unable to form coherent sentences. Valeska's guards suspect that it is all an act, but there is no way to determine the truth of that, which only elongates the circumstances, and freedom is not coming anytime soon- not that he seems to care, anyway.

During his life as a civilian, Xejasmos was respected and loved by the rest of the fears; seen as a polite, distant, yet reliable guide next to Death. Although he wasn't quite popular because he lacked charisma and overall people skills, his demeanor was never frowned upon by others. This probably speaks to the standards of the society before Valeska, as this would not be the case under their regime. Xejasmos didn't hold an important position, but, in reality, no one did in the time before Valeska, as much as many would call Death their "leader". There was no official system of social hierarchy or organization. Thus, his life was quite uneventful, but he never asked for more and was quite content.

After Death's banishment, his routine of peace and quietness came crumbling down and he was completely stripped of any safety and wellbeing. The torture was almost immediate, so was the incarceration. His only crime was being Death's companion, and his silence only aggravated the sentence. His existence has long been forgotten by the rest of the Realm, making rescue an impossible option. X has become somewhat of a legend, a bedtime story to scare children, almost. Those who talk about him are certain of his non-existence.

It is nothing short of ironic how quickly X's life was forgotten despite his survival. It is also most unfortunate that he will never be able to tell his story, not to someone that matters, anyway.

Fated to waste for eternity, life goes on for Death's grey companion.

  1. So Xejasmos only fault was accompanying Death, and Valeska broke him beyond repair. How could them be so careless? They forced Death into exile, in which she still lives, and tormented Xejasmos. I don’t know who is worse off, though. Death is rout out from her homeland, and I presume she knows nothing about Xejasmos fate. Xejasmos, on the other hand, ‘is now nothing but a shell of what he once was’, and he neither suffers under Valeska nor Katastrofeas anymore. Oh, you poor thing!
